Not at all, we love taking absolute beginners for lessons. Coming into a lesson without skateboarding skills is like a blank canvas, it allows us to get you learning the skills from day 1!

October – November

Registrations open in September. 6 weeks of lessons.

February – March

Registrations open in January. 6 weeks of lessons.

Group lessons are held around Wanaka, including the skate park, Northlake plaza. and the vert ramp. 

For private lessons we are more flexible, if there is a space you would prefer to use or if you have skateboarding facilities at home we can come to you. 

The drop-in sessions are held around Otago and vary depending on the space/facilities each town has to offer. Check our social channels to see when we are coming to your town!

Nope! We have a range of skateboards of different sizes, helmets, knee pads and wrist guards. Everything you need to give skateboarding a go!

We believe everyone can benefit from a lesson with one of the Rad coaches! Each coach has their preferred skate style and we can pair you up with the right coach for you. 

Advanced lessons are available to help plan and improve your approach to competition skating, or just to help you nail that one trick you’ve been working on.

We are happy to teach anyone from around 2 years old.
With our Ookkie boards we can get the young ones holding onto a handle learning to get their balance.

There is no upper age limit to skateboard (that we know of).We are down to teach anyone who wants to give skateboarding a go.

Pre-school Skateboarding Class: This class is designed for pre-school kids aged 3-5 years old, who are just starting out with skateboarding. The idea is to expose the kids to skateboards and allow them to play with no expectations or pressure. Our intention is to develop the basics of riding a skateboard, including how to balance with assistance, and turning. This class is great for helping young children develop coordination and confidence on a skateboard.

Newcomers Skateboarding Class: This class is for those who are new to skateboarding and want to learn the basics. Students will learn how to ride, turn, and stop on a skateboard, as well as how to properly fall and get back up. This class is great for those who have never skateboarded before and want to learn in a safe and controlled environment.

Beginners Skateboarding Class: This class is designed for those who can ride a skateboard and are now ready to learn some basic tricks. By the end of the term there should be a solid foundation and some experence with dropping in and ollies. Students will learn how to ride, turn, and stop on a skateboard and properly fall and get back up. 

Intermediate Skateboarding Class: This class is for those who have some experience skateboarding and are looking to improve their skills. Students should be able to drop in and ollie and will learn more advanced techniques such as kickflips, and grinds. This class is suitable for those who are comfortable riding and have a good understanding of the basics.

Advanced Skateboarding Class: This class is for experienced skateboarders who want to take their skills to the next level. Students will learn advanced tricks and techniques, as well as how to ride in different terrain and conditions. Attendees should be able to do a few different individual tricks like kick flips and rock to fakies, we will look at linking tricks together, perfecting the tricks they can do and learning new tricks. This class is for those who are confident in their skateboarding abilities and want to challenge themselves to progress further.

Adults Skateboarding Class: This class is for adult skateboarders who are looking to learn or improve their skills. This class is suitable for all levels, from those who are new to skateboarding to experienced riders looking to progress further. The class will be tailored to the needs and abilities of the students, with a focus on safety and proper technique. We have realistic skills we aim to learn, keeping the attendees happy and injury free is high on the radar.

First Timers Female Only Skateboarding Lessons: These lessons are designed for women who are new to skateboarding and want to learn the basics. The class will be taught by an experienced instructor who is knowledgeable and supportive of female skateboarders. Students will learn how to ride, turn, and stop on a skateboard, as well as how to properly fall and get back up. This class is great for those who have never skateboarded before and want to learn in a safe and inclusive environment.

Beginners Female Only Skateboarding Lessons: These lessons are for women who have some experience skateboarding and are looking to improve their skills. The class will be taught by an experienced instructor who is knowledgeable and supportive of female skateboarders. Students will learn more advanced techniques such as ollies and dropping in on a ramp.  This class is suitable for those who are comfortable riding and have a good understanding of the basics.

Adults Female Only Skateboarding Lessons: These lessons are for adult women who are looking to learn or improve their skateboarding skills. The class will be taught by an experienced instructor who is knowledgeable and supportive of female skateboarders. This class is suitable for all levels, from those who are new to skateboarding to experienced riders looking to progress further. The lessons will cover all aspects of skateboarding, with a focus on safety and proper technique. These lessons are a great opportunity for adult women to learn and improve in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
